I have to admit, I had high expectations for this vacuum since I have several Dyson products and they are worth every penny. I decided to purchase this product from BoxedUpTech since it’s at a price I can actually afford for the first time and was totally impressed. It was so impressive, my whole family wanted to test it out, even my teenagers. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats indoors, and this vacuum has been put to the test and passed with flying colors. The Dyson Gen5outsize vacuum has made cleaning my house a more enjoyable and pleasant chore. Compared to my Dyson V11 Animal+ that I’ve been using for the last three years, the Gen5outsize was a huge upgrade especially with all the new features.
The biggest takeaway for me was having a bigger bin capacity which allowed me to vacuum all four bedrooms without having to stop to empty out the bin. I’m also relieved that I no longer have to hold down the trigger button like I did on the V11 because my fingers would start to hurt especially during a long duration of vacuuming. The built in crevice and dusting tool was a convenient surprise and having the extra battery greatly increased the run time.
Since I suffer from dust allergies, the most fascinating and helpful tool was the Fluffy Optic cleaner head which illuminated the dust, allowing me to see if I missed anything and made me feel confident that the floor was thoroughly cleaned. The HEPA filtration also gave me a peace of mind for cleaner air. Overall, the Gen5outsize has taken my vacuuming experience to a whole new level.

I loved that the battery was already charged a bit so I could use it right away.
The machine is easy to maneuver, quieter than most vacuums and not too heavy. The hand grip was nice but I have small hands so it would have been easier for me if it was a little smaller.
It was satisfying to see the dirt, hair, etc. being sucked up into the canister as I vacuumed and the carpet fibers being lifted as I went over it. As a side note, I have owned a different high end brand vacuum for over 40 years that I really like. I did a test and vacuumed with my old vacuum then went over it with the Dyson and I was amazed at how much more the Dyson removed from the carpet. That alone sold me on this machine!
I switched to the Hair Screw Tool to use on the couch as we have dogs and they are light shedders. The Dyson picked up all the hair.
I switched again to the Fluffy Optic cleaner head to vacuum the hardwood floors. I love the light as it allowed me to see everything in front of the vacuum before it was sucked up and it did a great job, even along the edges. I then tried out the built in dusting and crevice tool and felt it got to hard to reach places with precision.
Each tool was super easy to pop on and off. The LCD screen on top of the canister is easy to read. It’s really cool that I can see what is being removed & how much is being removed from the carpet/floors. I also like that it lets me know how much battery time is left.
The HEPA filter is a huge plus. I like the fact that I can easily remove it and wash it. And, with my other vacuums there have been times I could smell the stinky air blowing out but not with the Dyson.
The canister holds a lot of debris and it is super easy to open and unload right into the garbage.
My floors look cleaner right after I vacuum. I feel it brightened my carpet. I am so impressed with this machine and with Dyson overall.

I have been using the new Dyson gen5 outsize for the past week. This is my 4th Dyson vacuum but first in several years, saw this deal and it was too good to pass up. The power and innovation in this new machine are incredible. The battery run time and suction power make this a viable alternative to plug-in vacuums – I was able to do the whole house and still have plenty of charge remaining and only had to empty the canister once. The canister empties thoroughly thanks to the way it slides down to push the dust out. Despite its power the unit is super quiet when using the hardwood floor head. The laser for seeing dust is addictive and the “scoreboard” showing how many particles were sucked up provides metrics for how well it’s working. While it is large and a bit heavier, the features and added utility are definitely worth it. Also, you can actually smell the HEPA filtered clean air as you vacuum!

This thing picks up so much dirt, it’s very quiet, and it comes with basically every kind of attachment you would need for any scenario. Hair doesn’t even come close to tangling or clogging the thing. The exhaust goes through a hepa filter so it only spits out air cleaner than what it sucks in. I’ve had mine for about a month as of writing this and had no desire to return it despite the admittedly high price tag. The biggest change I’ve noticed compared to my old vacuum is that it feels like less of a chore. Just grab it off the wall mount, vacuum and put it back. No setup, no cords, the battery is more than enough to do all the cleaning. The two main attachments for carpets and hard floors are very flexible so it’s easy to maneuver around furniture. If you like to keep your place super clean like I do, and you are in need of a new vacuum, at this price of $160, it’s honestly a steal. I’ve been very happy with the thing.

Let me preface this review with the following: mom of 4 kids under 12 and 1 large breed shedding dog. This means my house is full of dander, hair , sand , dirt and who only knows what else they drag in. I am an avid Dyson user and I even made the switch to another brand to test out others. No competition. My older v8 stick was a holy grail until this gen5outsize came out . It is heavier , so get ready for an arm workout if you are pushing the limits and vacuuming for the 140 minute run time!!! It comes with 2 batteries so you are no longer waiting for it to charge and the container is equivalent to size as my Dyson animal ball . The green light is a full on game changer, it illuminates hair and dirt on hard floors ! My favorite feature of it all is it really is kid friendly . The bars will show green when the floor is clean and the 7 year old knows his job is done. No more half complete vacuum jobs here ! If you are ever interested in what you are sucking up , the display will show you ! It’s incredible !!! Another really awesome feature that was found while emptying the bin was that the short attachment / window or trim cleaner was already there. You don’t need to switch it out like you had to on older models. I know I will love this just as long as my other stick and vacuums

We have 2 huskies that shed constantly and we appreciate the bigger canister capacity, high suction along with the on-off switch. We compared our V15 Absolute vacuum and there is a noticeable increase in suction power and the laser on the Fluffy Optic brush roller is brighter, making seeing messes easier than ever. The included spare battery is also a huge plus I never felt concerned that I would run out of power.

Vacuum was lightweight and quieter compared to other Dyson vacuums. Being a cordless vacuum is a big plus, no more changing switch points and long wires. I like that the canister opens up fully, emptying is not messy. One touch button to turn it on makes it simple and easy to use. The only thing I wished was perhaps as strong a suction as other corded Dyson vacuums. Shipping was a little slow but SO WORTH IT FOR THE PRICE! This is the Rolls Royce of vacuum

Excellent vacuum with several additional features for new and previous Dyson owners. I ve previously owned and used heavily a v10 animal model. This one provides more power, extended battery life. The hardwood roller with laser is a great addition that enables deeper cleaner. The laser light allows to locate more dirt before. The replacement battery allows more flexibility for extended operation , storage and easy of use. This vacuum is highly recommended.

So I’ve had the Dyson Gen 5 Detect for a week now omg it’s amazing. The laser is extremely bright and it’s very quiet but so strong picks up everything which I love and it adapts to different dust areas. I have the V12 slim detect and I feel like it’s a huge upgrade. I love the new built in attachment and the colors on the Gen 5 the the battery life is awesome I was able to clean a 1500sqft apt on one charge. It comes with so many attachments for almost any cleaning situation involving vacuuming. Highly recommend. I would have never bought it if it wasn’t at such a discounted price since we live pay check to pay check but this is very affordable.

I received this vacuum after close to 4 weeks!!! but had it up and running in 15 minutes. I used it to clean both the carpet and hardwood floors. It did an amazing job on both surfaces. The laser really does let you see the dirt and the screen display helps really does a great job helping you know when to move on to another area. It was the best experience I have had with a vacuum.

I tried buying 2 because let’s face it at this price point, you would be pretty stupid not to take advantage but for some reason it was not letting me. I think there is a limit of 1 per customer or else I would have purchased more for the family.
Came in after 2 weeks but it was brand new never used. Works perfect I really do not have any complaints.

I’m super excited when I received this vacuum. I have owned many vacuum, including 3 dyson. But this is by far the best one. It gets the job done faster, more powerful, best of all the battery last long time. It even includes 2 batteries. But only one is enough to clean my whole house and my house is 3000sq ft. I absolutely love this vacuum. Having previously used Dyson products and having loved them all: this one definitely falls in line with Dyson’s standards of quality and convenience. It has a few upgrades from the previous vacuum I have used. It has a good charge time. I would say it is slightly heavier than the V8, but this makes sense with what I am assuming is a larger battery. The attachments have a bit more versatility also. I highly recommend this vac especially for this price, ITS FREE!!!

The Dyson Gen5outsize seems lighter than the Dyson Outsize that I currently own. With the addition of the power button (rather than the trigger) it certainly is easier on one’s hands and arms when using the vacuum. The wider cleaner head, larger bin size, 140 mins run time, the fluffy optic cleaner head and the HEPA filter are absolutely great add-ons. Would have liked a wet vacuum attachment with this next generation vacuum. While lighter, I believe focusing on the unit weight would enable more masses to buy the product. Additionally, when emptying the bin not only are dust particles released in the air, the exterior of the unit tends to get dirty as well – hoping this mechanism can be improved upon.

The recent wild fire smoke in Toronto prompted me to take action and buy 2 Dyson PH04 machines – one for the living room and one for the bedroom. I like them a lot and I just leave them running on auto. No issues so far. I have not tested the humidification feature yet as it is summer and my indoor humidity is at 54%. I love the design since other purifiers look very boxy. I recommend this product 🙂
